Jel Write #1: My Experience in All Things PATTS, A Series Coming Soon?
Helo~
This is my first blog and I'm very excited to start it off about a short introduction about myself and the blogs I will be writing. Just to give you a heads up, I am in no way excellent in my English writing so I apologize in advance for any grammatical mistakes :P
About Me
I'm Jel, it's a nickname of mine and I'm 18. I am a libra and the eldest of my 2 siblings. I am a Filipino who grew up in Brunei Darussalam. I love purple but that doesn't mean everything I own is purple though. I listen to different kinds of music but I find myself listening to any upbeat songs on repeat. I listen to songs from Stray Kids, Doja Cat, Ez Mil and many more. Oh, don't forget to listen to Bad Habits by Ed Sheeran if you haven't ;)
I have graduated from my sixth form last year at Pusat Tingkatan Enam Sengkurong (Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre). And yes, I currently live in Brunei Darussalam and not Philippines. So why did I apply to a university in Philippines? I'll explain it to y'all shortly. I grew up here and now that I have finally completed my A Levels, it's finally time to step into the world of a university student.
Why apply to a university abroad? During a pandemic?
The initial plan was to go to Philippines after my A Levels. But unfortunately, the pandemic happened. I already researched universities offering engineering courses, specifically an Aeronautical Engineering course, wayyy before the pandemic. Even more, because I was fixed into applying for colleges in the Philippines, I missed the HECAS deadline (an online application for universities here in Brunei). For my first semester, everything would be based online so I do not need to go back to the Philippines anytime soon.
How did I found out about PATTS?
My relatives recommended PATTS College of Aeronautics and so, I decided to check out their website, which looks rather outdated but thankfully, their Facebook page is active. To add on to that, you could inquire them through Messenger and they respond quite fast so I relied on that for information. Don't bother contacting them through their website because it'll just say "The server encountered an error".
My Experience Applying to PATTS
I did not want this to be a very long blog but rather an introduction to the contents I'll be posting later on. I wanted to write my experience applying and sitting for the PATTS entrance exam, going through the enrollment process as a student from abroad and many more amidst the pandemic.
I will be dividing it into parts because I have a lot to say about what I experienced (subject to change):
- Part 1- Entrance Exam
- Part 2- Enrollment
- Part 3- Officially A PATTSean?
- many more parts to come :)
I hope that by blogging my experience, it can benefit and better prepare you if you plan to apply to PATTS. Stay tuned!
